Elasticity

This section presents the Elastic Equation with A-V Formulation and Heat equation with associated test cases :

The electromagnetism can deform the magnet through two phenomena :

  • Laplace force : it is the macroscopic result of Lorentz Force, it appears with electric and magnetic fields.

  • Thermal Dilatation : by Joule’s effect, the current generates temperature which generates deformation.

The study of this two phenomena is important because it can broke the magnet, like in this photo of broken helix :

Or, for helix, if the deformation is too important, two helixes can touch each other and create short circuit. A short circuit prevents an experimentation or worst, changes the force on magnet and broke it.
